Getting ready for Gustav

Just wanted to give everyone an update on the hurricane. We are staying at our house in Baton Rouge. We are very prepared with lots of food, water, candles, flashlights, batteries and diapers!We will start experiencing wind and rain overnight tonight as the storm makes its way ashore. If you are hearing things about New Orleans on the news, please keep in mind that we are about 70 miles Northwest of New Orleans and Baton Rouge is above sea level, so the concerns that they have with New Orleans are not the same here. We are very safe here - if we weren't safe, we would have left! Once we lose power it may be difficult to get in touch with us, so if you can't reach us by phone please do not worry. We will do our best to get word out that we are ok. Keep Louisiana in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days!

Hurricane visitors

There is a big storm heading towards Louisiana and we've had some visitors come see us on their way out of New Orleans. Jimmy, Meg and Evelyn stayed with us for one night. It was fun to watch Evelyn play!
Then Mr. Davyd and Scott came over...I was excited to finally meet Mr. Davyd!

Playing on the boppy

I like playing on the boppy. I can see things since my head is propped up!
Playing is very serious business. Ha ha Mommy- you will never be able to take a picture of me smiling!

New things going on

I'm learning to eat from a bottle. It's way less work than my normal way of eating!
Daddy does a great job!
Daddy and I had guy time tonight while Mommy went to get a haircut.I wonder if I'll still be able to pull her hair now that it's shorter...I'm sure I'll figure it out soon!

Visiting AG

Today Mommy and I went to visit Daddy at work and meet all of his work friends. Everyone thought I was pretty cute and I don't think it's because I slept the whole time!

A Quiet Weekend

This weekend Mommy, Daddy and I got to hang out at home. This is a picture of me after I spent some time lifting up my head.

Just me and Mommy

All of our fun visitors had to go home, so now it's just me and Mommy during the day! Mommy says we have to think of fun things to do besides going to Target. Today we sang songs, read books and played on my play mat.
I like all the bright colors (or at least she tells me there are lots of colors).
Then we did something called tummy time. It's a lot of work for me.
I'd rather eat my shirt than pick up my head.
Hooray, I did it!

My Baptism

Today I was baptized- that's me in the fancy white outfit! Behind me are all my family members that came to celebrate this special day!

A baby shower

Mommy, Grammy, Cilla and I went to a baby shower for Megan in New Orleans. I was very excited to meet Megan before she and Chad move to London! I can't wait to meet my new friend Emma some day!

My Palko Grandparents

Today Mommy and I went to the airport to pick up Grammy and Dza-Dza Palko. I was excited to finally meet Dza-Dza (pronounced "judge-a" that's polish for Grandpa!)

Matthew is now one month old and weighs 9 lbs 11 oz! This picture was an attempt at capturing one of his smiles- he moves too quickly!

We don't have this captured on film yet, but Matthew has begun to smile with recognition when he looks at us! He is also beginning to focus on objects and reach for things around him. Matthew is also trying to fight sleep, we think he's afraid he's going to miss something fun during a nap! It's amazing how fast he is changing!

On Friday, August 1st we went back to the doctor to see how much weight Matthew gained- he now weighs 8 lbs 8 oz! He gained more than a pound in one week.
